Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using Numbaroll, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
2. What Numbaroll is (and is not)
Numbaroll is a record-keeping and form-preparation tool for household employers. It keeps hours, computes pay with citations to the underlying tax rules, produces audit-ready pay stubs, and prepares year-end documents (W-2, 1099-NEC, Schedule H, and a CPA packet).
Numbaroll is not a payroll processor, a bank, or a tax filer: it never moves your money, never files with the IRS or any state agency on your behalf, and is not a legal, financial, or tax advisor. We help you keep the records and prepare the forms; your accountant signs and files.
3. Accounts and roles
An account represents one household. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Workers you add may claim their own sign-in via an invite; a worker's sign-in only ever shows that worker's own records.
4. Your responsibilities as an employer
You — not Numbaroll — are the employer of record for your household workers. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter (including your workers' personal, tax, and bank details), for having the right to enter it, for classifying your workers correctly, and for actually filing and paying what you owe. Numbaroll's calculations cite their sources, but you and your accountant are responsible for verifying them before filing.
5. Payment & billing
During the open beta, Numbaroll is free and no card is required. The paid Household plan is $30/month, flat per household — no per-employee fees — billed through Stripe if and when you subscribe. Subscriptions renew automatically and can be cancelled anytime. We will give existing users reasonable notice before free beta access ends.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Numbaroll for any illegal activity, to enter another person's data without the right to do so, to attempt to gain unauthorized access to any system or another household's data, or to interfere with the service in any way.
7. Data & privacy
We handle your data — and your workers' data — as described in our Privacy Policy.
8. Service availability
We aim for high availability but make no uptime guarantees. We may modify or discontinue features with reasonable notice. Your records remain exportable.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE, OR ANY CALCULATION OR FORM IT PRODUCES, WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SUITABLE FOR FILING WITHOUT REVIEW BY A QUALIFIED PROFESSIONAL.
10. Termination and record retention
We may terminate accounts that violate these terms. You may request deletion at any time; there is a 7-day grace window to cancel the request, after which your access ends. Because the IRS requires household employers to retain payroll records for 4 years, payroll and tax records are kept for 4 years from your deletion request and then permanently deleted, with a final confirmation email.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NUMBAROLL SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES — INCLUDING ANY TAX PENALTIES, INTEREST, OR ASSESSMENTS ARISING FROM YOUR FILINGS. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE LAST 12 MONTHS.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms will be resolved in the courts of New York.
